What is the best wax to have?

Ah the minefield of all things wax!

I hear you ask time and time again, why do you use Lycon hot wax on your client’s and not other brands?! I guess the answer is simple, well to me anyway - i won’t use anything on you that I wouldn’t use on myself or my family.

Long before I trained in waxing I remember a dear friend of mine saying that she had tried numerous waxing establishments both locally, and near where she worked in London. Without question Lycon was her wax of choice. Having been pinned down with Louis Marcel wax strips in my youth by my mother, (not really pinned, sorry mum 😜) I felt I could withstand all wax products and nothing was going to be any better than the next. Oh how wrong I was. Lycon opened up a whole new world for me. Trust me, I have been and tried a lot over the years as I feel it’s important to know the market.

Using a beautiful oil before applying the hot wax protects your skin and allows the wax to then shrink wrap around the hair ensuring a seamless and somewhat comfortable removal. When applying Lycon Strip Wax to legs, arms or back (please note you do have the option of having Lycon hot wax applied as an alternative if you wish) I apply a thin layer of cornflour (don’t worry I won’t cook you) which again protects the skin.

How often should you wax?

How long is a piece of string? Yep, it does actually depend on your own personal hair growth. For me, it also depends on the time of year. When embarking on your waxing journey if you have been someone that shaves, it takes a little while for the hair to grow through at an even rate. Imagine that every time you shave, all you are doing is slicing off the hair at skin level, you are not actually reaching down to the root. So initially, you’re going to have hair waiting to push through for a while, feels a little prickly. Waxing removes hair from the root. It will all even out, just takes a little time and patience. I will be obviously be able to advise you all the way.

Why do I get pimples after a wax?

Pesky pimples! Obviously not an exhaustive list, but, it can be due to tight fitting underwear or clothes, bathing products, perhaps you need to have a gentle scrub to enable the hairs to push through comfortably and with ease. Moistuirse the skin to keep it soft and supple. Also, I can’t recommend highly enough Lycon Ingrown X-It Foaming Gel. This little gem is kept in my shower and I personally use a pea sized amount daily. This is formulated to keep the skin’s pH in harmony. My husband also uses it 😬. Purchase one when you next come in, you won’t look back.
